Tim joined Chocolate Films in April 2011. Having worked in film production for a number of years, he was excited to join a company combining high quality film production with outreach and educational programmes. Since joining the company he has had the chance to shoot and edit a diverse array films, take part in a variety of filmmaking workshops and travel to a number of locations across the UK and Europe working on Chocolate Films productions.
Prior to joining Chocolate Films, Tim worked in a variety of roles within the film industry both in the UK and in the US. After studying Film and Social Theory at Harvard University he spent three years in Los Angeles working in production and script development for Furst Films production company and feature film studio Overture Films. He subsequently moved back to his home town of London where he worked as a production manager for Partizan and as a freelance writer, editor and filmmaker.
Tim has a particular interest in documentary which he hopes to develop further with Chocolate Films. He has made a number of short documentary films as a self shooting director including “Beam Drop” which will be screened on Sky Arts later this year. He has also written scripts for Disney’s Wondermark Films division and Ubisoft as well as articles on subjects relating to film, music and contemporary art for numerous publications including Rollingstone.com, Anthem Magazine and Whitewall Magazine.
I made this film for the London Transport Museum in order to highlight the ways in which they get young people actively involved museum life. I decided to use shifting split screens to keep the film vibrant and show the wide variety of museum activities but also to call to mind the complex and fast moving London transport network.
This is a film I made outlining our plans for a really exciting upcoming Chocolate Films Education project working with NEET and homeless young people in Hackney and Birmingham. The film was made as part of a fundraising campaign through the Natwest Community Force scheme.
I I helped facilitate the editing of these projects along with the young people on the Futureversity workshop at Rich Mix. In the space of only 5 days the two teams of budding filmmakers managed to create two great looking and ambitious short films which couldn't be more different.
This short film is one of the first projects I helped edit at Chocolate Films. It deals with important redevelopment and environmental issues in the local community.
Although this project was made before I joined the Chocolate Films team I really enjoyed the film as it gives the viewer insight into the artist's practice.
