Last week Chocolate Films took in a road trip to Leeds for the Stories of the World Conference, where we met people from the museum sector all over the country. The event was a lively interactive conference with talks, debates, Q&As and case studies. Chocolate Films, in partnership with the Geffrye Museum, have created over 60 short stories with young people and community groups as part of the Stories of the World project.
On the day we ran two one-hour animation sessions with the conference goers, to give them a taste of the work we do. All the participants jumped at the chance to be creative and produce short sequences around the theme “What Does Home Mean to You?”. From a ping pong match between the UK and Portugal to creature comforts, flying computer consoles to fine home furnishings, the assembled film represents the creative and the true meaning of “Home” to our participants. As well as giving them a platform from which to tell their stories with their peers, in a visual manor, which is often beneficial to the wider community around the museums they work for. Alongside this activity Chocolate Films documented the whole event by filming short interviews with the conference goers. We unearthed some really interesting stories and reactions to the Stories of the World project as well as getting an overall sense of the hype and buzz around the event. At the end of the conference the film our participants had produced was screened in the beautiful setting of the old theatre. It was met with warmth and laughter. A successful day was had by all.
The animations will be up on our site soon but for now, check out photos from the workshops:
