Stories of the World is the largest youth participation project ever carried out by museums. It involves over 60 museums across the country, working with over 2000 “young curators” to explore their collections and develop exciting exhibitions and events for summer 2012.
Since the Cultural Olympiad begun in 2008, Chocolate Films has worked closely with the Geffrye Museum in Hackney to provide young people with filmmaking opportunities, using the museum's own collection as the focus of their short films. You can check out the work of our young filmmakers as part of the Cultural Olympiad here.
Chocolate Films, along with the Geffrye Museum has been invited to take part in the Stories of the World conference, taking place at the Leeds City Museum on Wednesday 9th November 2011. The conference aims to showcase the extraordinary change taking place across the museums sector as a result of Stories of the World, and will kick-start the discussion on what next? How can the legacy of Stories of the World be sustained after 2012.
The conference includes case studies from participating museums, a panel discussion led by the Stories of the World national youth steering group, networking sessions with Chocolate Films leading the animation filmmaking workshops as well as filming the whole day.
The conference will be summed up by the young poet James McMillan. If you see Chocolate Films around, come and say hi!
