Chocolate Films is entering the third week of the NatWest CommunityForce campaign on 123 votes! All these votes count towards us being in with a chance of receiving £6000 match-funding to go towards the Home project, where we will be working with 60 homeless and NEET young people in both Birmingham and Hackney, to make their own short films.
Ben and Kim are up in St. Basils in Birmingham, for the second time this project, to meet with some of the young people there to develop their original film ideas as well as have a-go at using the kit they will be using for the shoot. Kim is also getting the young filmmakers set up with their blogs, an online portfolio to document their upcoming filmmaking experience, in preparation for their Arts Award accreditation. We're so excited to be able to offer these young people, who may not necessarily be geared towards education, a nationally recognised qualification in the Arts. The match funding will allow Chocolate Films to provide young people with an entirely new opportunity to develop an interest in film and media with a platform to express their thoughts and feelings as well as improve their communication and teamwork skills.
If you haven't voted for the Home project in the NatWest CommunityForce campaign then you can do so here. There are plenty of short films on the Home project page to check out if you would like to know more about the project or hear film ideas straight from the young people themselves.
You can also check out the work of the St. Basils charity in this short film.
