Chocolate Films is about to join force with the Cuming Museum and provide about 15 Young people from the age of 13 to 18 living in the London borough of Southwark with hands on filmmaking experience during a 6 weeks period starting Saturday 8th October and including 3 full days during half term.
The young people will create a bunch of short animated documentaries exploring the mysticism behind some of the many lucky charms exhibited at the Cuming museum as well as revealing the meanings, hidden stories, beliefs and superstition behind personal objects and other adornments found within their multicultural community. They will not only learn the camera skills needed to capture what they want but will also lead vox pops and edit their own shorts.
The young filmmakers will also be guided to create their own blogs and have the chance to pass their Arts Awards qualification. Their final films will shade light on the personal and emotional connection people often develop with the objects or other jewellery they carry with them on a daily basis. The films will uncover old and fascinating object and stories which one will be in total opposition with the world of “bling bling” and simple fashion we re usually exposed to.
