Chocolate Films spent a fantastically busy February half term at the Geffrye museum in Hackney for the 5-day Totally Animated workshops, as part of the Stories of the World project taking place in various museums across London.
12 participnts were joined by Chocolate Films' Rachel, Eray and Dan to create 4 short animations under 3 minutes each. Out of 10 objects from the museum, the participants chose Noah's Ark, a small, wooden, painted ark; a lemon squeezer; a Bellarmine jug; and a set of 26 toy soldiers made from lead. Each animation told the story of how these 4 objects from international beginnings came to dwell in English, middle-class homes. What the participants came up with were imaginative, creative and unusual, which made the short films all the more interesting!
The animations were shown in the exhibition space and shown as part of the celebration of the London 2012 Olympics and will be on our website and the Geffrye museum website soon, as well as photos from the workshops on our Flickr site, so watch this space!
