Street Heritage was an intensive youth archive research and documentary training project run by Chocolate Films in partnership with London Metropolitan Archives. Over the 6 months of the Street Heritage project 15 young people explored the LMA’s vast collections of archive moving image, photographs and documents, searching for archive materials that bring alive London’s history. They worked with experienced filmmakers from Chocolate Films to learn skills in documentary filmmaking, and archive and interpretation specialists from LMA to develop skills in archive research and oral history techniques, and put all their skills together to produce two documentaries about London’s heritage. The documentaries were premiered at the prestigious Livery Hall at London Guildhall, with the Street Heritage Filmmakers leading a Heritage and Community Filmmaking Masterclass for other budding young filmmakers after the screening.
